A Woman Intend to File Lawsuit against Police Officer Gary Pignato and Greece, NY Police Department

A woman (name undisclosed) has alleged Gary Pignato, a Greece, NY police officer for forcing her to have sex with him, misusing his police power and authority. 48 years old Gary Pignoto has been suspended and the charges against him are being investigated. The woman is under protection and Gary has been prohibited from having any kind of contact with her.

The victim’s side of story states that Gary Piganto and one more police officer responded to the complaint of a domestic violence at her home on August 24th. Gary Pignato, the officer on duty asked her two questions – “was she drinking" and “was she under probation". She replied "yes". He said that drinking under probation was an offense and she could go to jail if proved guilty. He called the woman at a parking lot the next day and took her to his home. He asked her for sex to avoid the arrest. The woman was frightened and did whatever the cop said. Gary was on duty at the time of committing this crime. The woman intends to file lawsuits against Gary and Greece police department. He took advantage of her misusing his Greece police department’s power.

The woman's attorney, Norman Palmiere said, "sex between the two was not consensual but was a coerced act under the threat of arrest and jail."

This is not the first charge against Gary Pignato. Few other charges of inappropriate behavior with women on traffic signals & parking areas have come to attention. Lawrenceville criminal lawyer said "If proved in court that Gary Pignato took sexual favor to avoid arrest, it will be deemed as bribery." West Palm Beach personal injury lawyer said, "The victim has filed an assault & battery case against the police officer. This can lead to felony charges with severe punishment."

This is a shame. Exploiting women in the name of law enforcement is unacceptable. Police officers like him are giving a bad name to the police force.

I read an article published on 13 wham.com in which Monroe County District Attorney Mike Green said that a case against a police officer of his department will be prosecuted as vigorously as any other case.

Good to know that strict action will be taken against Gary if proven guilty.
