Women Police's Historical Event; Nation's First Women CPO Appointed

Datuk Robiah
This is a great boost to all the women police cops in the world that Datuk Robiah Abdul Ghani was appointed the nation's first woman chief police officer (CPO) in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, 13th of July. This has happened for the first time in the history of women policing. Robiah's family background shows the tradition of serving the police force which she proved to have inherited successfully.

The 55-year-old CPO, a mother of three served the force for 37 years in various capacities. Prior to be appointed in this rank she was Pahang deputy CPO with the position of senior assistant commissioner (I) for a year.

This event has created a police history giving new dimension to women policing, acknowledging their remarkable contribution to the nation. I hope that more women cops will be motivated to demonstrate outstanding performance and strive for higher positions in the police force.

Congratulations to this hardy woman. You have done the real job!!

Just as Dr Sinha explained in her book: for women of such calibre there seems to be only work and no glass ceiling. The barriers are non existent.

Keep up your good work dear woman.
