Growing Molestations in Tihar Jail

women prisoners' molestations The increasing complaints of women prisoners' molestation by the CRPF personnel have created an urgency to draw more women cops in Tihar jail (prison). Soon the inner circle of Tihar jail will be guarded by 52 women police personnel. In this team 32 women are single. There will be a grand dinner conducted to acknowledge these women cops at the TSP headquarter in Kilpauk.

Do you think that there is need for more women cops in the defense and security system because of the illegitimate behavior of male cops? Male cops misuse their power and position and many go unreported. Can these unethical officers be a threat even to the women cops? Or are they only a threat to the women prisoners, as they are unarmed and have a bad record? It is hard to accept that the law enforcement institutions meant to protect the rights of the people are becoming threat to the society, especially in Tihar jail.

I was aware of the corrupt practices of male cops but this article gave substantive evidence about them. I think they can be a threat to women cops but cannot do it openly and fearlessly.

Women prisoners cannot be punished for the uncontrolled sexual urge of male cops. This is a national issue.

Thank you for an interest in this blog and my work. Realistically, it was my childhood dream to pursue a career in Police Services, my biggest inspiration was none other than Dr Kiran Bedi who to my good fortune has also foreworded this book.

This book is basically my PhD thesis completed at JNU New Delhi with my able supervisor Dr Joginder Singh Gandhi. The subject which was a comparison of women cops in India and US mainly attracted many publishers and on my supervisor's guidance I was able to sign up with one of them.

This book is a tribute to many women across different boundaries who are trying to achieve a significant place in certain male dominate professions. It also is an encouragement to all women aspiring to make a breakthrough in their professional and personal lives mainly trying to balance both fronts. For myself personally it has been a blissful journey from a student to a professor to an author and now a proud mother. I have always believed that 'Dreams do come true' just the path should lead you towards the same. Hopefully you will get a chance to read this book and I will always be open to suggestions. Good Luck in all your endeavours and keep me posted.

Thanks you so much for taking time and writing to me in detail about the origin of this book. I also did my graduate studies in Delhi, and my thesis was on comparing the concept of self in India and US (collective and independent concept of self). I am looking forward to reading your work.
